facilities & programs : equestrian center

One of only a handful of equestrian facilities in the region, our Equestrian Therapy Program is just another feature that makes Beverly Farm truly unique. Special exercises, activities and games are designed to improve balance, posture and self-confidence — and it’s a lot of fun.

Indoor Arena

Indoor Arena

The indoor arena is well equipped and is designed for safety and comfort. It’s a great place to carry out our therapy program as well as exhibitions and a variety of other events.

Julie Cagle

Julie

Maintaining a professional equestrian center takes a lot of work and a lot of skill. That's the job of Julie Cagle, our Program Coordinator. Julie is certified as a Registered Instructor by NARHA–North American Riding for the Handicapped Association–the standardization agency under whose regulations the arena program is operated. This is a rigorous training which includes 25 teaching hours under the supervision of another NARHA certified instructor, on-line study followed by two days of classroom study, demonstration of skills and written tests.

Volunteers

Volunteers

Our volunteers are vital to the success of our equestrian program. Volunteers are trained to work with the horses and riders as well as perform many other essential tasks, including the planning and assistance with events, facility repairs and maintenance, and caring for the horses. A great experience for anyone 16 years of age or older! Want to volunteer? Learn how.

Horses

Horses

Our horses are also very special. They receive extensive training and are evaluated for their temperament and ability to perform during therapy sessions. Judging by the bond that develops between rider, volunteer and horse, our equestrian program has a positive effect on all who participate.
