While roughly 90% of our funding is reimbursed by the government, many of the programs that make Beverly Farm a special place to live are not government funded. We must raise at least $2 million each year if we are to continue to provide quality care and special programs for our residents. So, our ability to serve our residents depends on the generosity of individuals, organizations, and companies.

There are many ways you can ensure the future of Beverly Farm, including donations of cash, stocks, and even used office furniture. Here are a few:

  • Cash Gift

This is the easiest gift to make. Those who make regular gifts of any amount are very precious to us because they provide a reliable source of income. A regular gift can be made by making a pledge or by authorizing us to debit your credit card account on a monthly or quarterly basis.

  • Appreciated Stock

If you own stock and it has increased in value, you will pay income tax and/or capital gains tax on the increase when you sell it. However, if you donate it to Beverly Farm you qualify for a tax deduction on the increased value while avoiding capital gains tax and Beverly Farm pays no income tax when we sell it.

  • Wills and Trusts

Gifts from wills and trusts of families of residents form an important source of donations for Beverly Farm. Such a gift allows any individual to make a “gift of a lifetime” by investing in the future care you have come to rely upon for your loved one. Gifts can benefit the residence of your loved one, a program he or she particularly enjoys, the endowment, or general operations.

  • Memorials and Honorariums

When a family member passes away, Beverly Farm can be noted as the recipient of memorials instead of floral gifts to the family. We can supply envelopes and informational brochures for memorial services. Or, for a special birthday, anniversary or holiday gift you can honor a friend or family member with a gift made in their name to Beverly Farm. A lovely letter is sent to the honored person indicating the gift, and the donor receives an acknowledgement for tax purposes.

  • IRA Gift

A gift to your family from your IRA account is taxed as ordinary income to them and is, therefore, a "costly" gift.  However, if you designate a non-profit organization as your beneficiary you can avoid the tax and put your entire IRA to work for a cause you care about.  Ask your IRA administrator how to change your beneficiary. They will supply you with the appropriate documents.

  • Life Insurance

You can leave a portion of your life insurance to Beverly Farm or buy a policy naming Beverly Farm as the owner and beneficiary. If you name Beverly Farm as the policy owner you can claim a tax deduction on the premiums you pay.

  • Personal Fundraisers

Several Families have hosted fundraising dances, golf outings or parties in their homes. Staff from Beverly Farm can attend to help you spread the good word about Beverly Farm and increase your guests' understanding and, thereby, the value of the gifts collected that day.

  • Employee Match

Many businesses have a policy of matching gifts their employees make to non-profit organizations. If you work for a company with a matching gift policy, please consult your Human Resources department to see how the match is made and share that information with us. If your employer maintains a fund or foundation that makes donations to non-profit organizations, we would love the opportunity to the present the case for Beverly Farm.

  • Used Office Furniture

Many companies store surplus office furniture in a warehouse. Typically, it may be fully depreciated and of no further use to its current owner. The cost for storage, however, continues to accrue, sometimes reaching thousands, even millions of dollars per year. If you have surplus office furniture consider donating it to us. We will arrange to sell it from your location or transport it to our warehouse and place it in the used furniture market. You will eliminate the cost and the proceeds will benefit the residents of Beverly Farm.

  • Special Needs Trusts

To insure the care you provided for your loved one during your lifetime, one can create a special needs trust for your resident at Beverly Farm. The careful construction of this trust will not interfere with the receipt of state and federal support because it is (1) dispensed at the discretion of a trustee and is (2) used only as a supplement for items not covered by government entitlements. This trust can be funded at any time during your life or by an insurance policy or other instrument at the time of your passing. The special needs trust gives you a great deal of comfort that the full, satisfying life you chose for your loved one by selecting Beverly Farm as their home will continue for their entire life. We ask that you make Beverly Farm the remainder beneficiary of this trust.
